STUDENTS have been coming and going from Langford Village Primary School in Bicester for two decades, and this week many are making a return.

The primary school in Peregrine Way has a bumper-packed weekend of events taking place to mark its milestone anniversary of 20 years.

A week of anniversary celebrations started on Saturday with a birthday family fun day and has been running through the week leading up to the traditional balloon release tomorrow.

Running up to the anniversary the school has been asking for students' old pictures, stories and videos of their time at school and more than 800 people have now been in touch with their personal memories on social media.

Early years teacher Hayley Durbin said: "This year marks 20 years since Langford Village CP School in Bicester first opened.

"We set up a Facebook social media page to draw together past pupils' and staffs' memories of the school over the years.

"Since then, more than 800 have shared positive memories, photos and videos of their days at Langford with us.

"We will be celebrating with events and activities, a special commemorative publication, and lots more."

The school was built in 1996 and extended in 2000 to provide a dedicated teaching block for Key Stage 2.

More work was carried out in 2009 to create additional work space for Key Stage 2 students.

The 20th anniversary celebrations started with the Birthday Fun Day on Saturday, May 21, which included a visit from the Mayor of Bicester Jolanta Lis.

The mayor unveiled a mosaic created by the students which will take pride of place at the school to mark the milestone.

Since then the school has also hosted a school reunion, community open day, seniors tea party and tonight will hold a pupils 90s disco.

The commemorative week will culminate in a whole school picnic on Friday and traditional balloon release.
