PICTURES and messages started to flood social media yesterday afternoon chronicling the devastation at Didcot A Power Station.

Half of the boiler house building collapsed just after 4pm and Julie Harvey, in Didcot, captured the start of the drama.

Her picture shows the top of the building crumbling, with pieces falling away, before the rest of the building fell down.

Oxford Mail:

Adrian Redhead took a picture from his window that shows at a distance the far corner of the boiler house beginning to collapse.

A rear view shot, tweeted by Phil Absolom, showed the left edge of the building was the first part to fall.

The amount of dust generated by the collapse can be seen from Molly Farney's picture as clouds begin to spread throughout the area.

The power station was due for demolition in 10 days and an investigation has been launched to find out why it came down yesterday.
