THE legend that is David Hasselhoff is coming to Oxford as the star of a new stage musical.

The show – Last Night a DJ Saved My Life – runs at the New Theatre from Tuesday until Saturday next week.

The Hoff, plays Ross, a hilarious hedonist who is Ibiza’s top 1980s DJ.

But he does not realise a new decade has dawned, disco is out and a new club scene is in.

As he tries to keep up with the times and his younger girlfriend, Mandy – played by Kim Tiddy of The Bill and Hollyoaks – things get complicated.

His teenage daughter, Penny, arrives. Father and daughter haven’t seen each other for three years, since a messy divorce.

She’s no longer a demure schoolgirl, but a wild child who falls for Rik, a holiday rep.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life is the story of two generations colliding, as a badly-behaved parent tries to control a rebellious teenager.

The production is a funny, touching tale set against a background of sun, sea, sex, drugs chart hits from the 1980s and 1990s.

Tracks include Everything I Do I Do It For You, MC Hammer’s Can’t Touch This, Ride On Time, Saturday Night and The Only Way Was Up by Yazz and the Plastic Population. Penny is played by Stephanie Webber of BBC1’s The Voice and Rik by Shane Ritchie Jr.

David Hasselhoff shot to fame as Michael Knight in sci-fi series Knight Rider and later in Baywatch. His film credits include films The Spongebob Square Pants Movie, Click and Wildboyz. On stage, The Hoff appeared in The Producers in Las Vegas.
