STUDENTS at Bloxham School are preparing for their final performance of Lost Boys, an original play inspired by Peter Pan.

They worked with children’s author Sam Gayton and Sam Brassington, the school’s director of drama, as well as the rest of the theatre department to write an original script over the summer.

In this modern twist on the classic children’s story, it’s Christmas Eve at the Darling residence and nothing is going to plan. The children won’t go to sleep, Nana won’t stop barking, and Mrs Darling won’t ease off on the sherry.

Wendy feels like she’s the only one holding the family together. But it’s hard work keeping the people you love from flying apart, especially when Peter Pan invites you to Neverland to join the Lost Boys.

Sarah Warren, the school’s marketing and communications officer, said: “A hundred members of the student body are involved either in the front of house, in the play or doing the lighting. This is a quarter of them, so it is a big deal for the school.

“I have seen little snippets of it myself and it looks amazing. The outfits they’ve got and the staging they’ve put together is brilliant.”

Lost Boys began its three-day run on Thursday. Today’s final performance at the school begins at 7.45pm.
