AWARD-winning musical The Bodyguard, starring X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, is coming to the Oxford stage.

Opening at the New Theatre on Tuesday, November 10, and running until Saturday, November 21, the theatre production is based on the hit movie of the same title.

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard Frank Farmer is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.

Both Rachel and Frank expect to be in charge, but what they don’t expect is to fall in love.

Frank takes charge of protecting Rachel, as she fights against his restrictions, but soon realises her life and her family are at risk and she must trust him.

Can Frank unmask a killer in time and will the path of true love run smooth, or are the pair destined to go their separate ways.

The musical features a string of Whitney Houston hits, including So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, I Have Nothing, Jesus Loves Me, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.

The 1992 movie version, starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, became a worldwide hit and its soundtrack sold more than 45 million copies.

Alexandra Burke won X Factor in 2008 and has since released two albums and is working on her third.

Her mother is Melissa Bell, who was the lead singer with Soul II Soul. She says her mother exposed her to music from the age of five and often took her to concerts.
