A MAN arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of a teenage woman on the A40 has been released on bail.

Katy Pancott died after she was struck by a silver Ford Focus at 12.35am on Friday near the Agrivert plant between Cassington and Wolvercote roundabout.

Thames Valley Police said the 19-year-old got out of a stationary black C63 Mercedes of her own accord, but she was knocked down and declared dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old man, the driver of the Mercedes, was arrested on the same day on suspicion of manslaughter.

Police confirmed on Saturday morning the man had been released on bail to report back to officers on Friday, October 23.

Bunches of flowers and messages have been left by the side of the road where the former City of Oxford College student died, with tributes to Miss Pancott and her family.

Miss Pancott, who was believed to have worked at Primark, finished a level two travel and tourism qualification at college this summer.

Messages of condolence have poured in on social media, with friends describing Miss Pancott as “vibrant and popular” and an “amazing friend”.

Police patrols could be seen searching the bushes at the side of the main road for clues on Saturday afternoon.

Officers said they would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident.

They are requesting to speak to anyone who saw a female pedestrian, or a silver Ford Focus, or the black C63 Mercedes prior to the collision.
