THE M40 northbound has reopened after a crash took place near Junction 9 at Bicester, according to traffic reports.
Witnesses said emergency services had rushed to the carriageway, where one damaged vehicle was spotted, and closed all lanes.
Drivers were being diverted via exit and entry slip roads to avoid the crash, but it is now reported to be affecting only the hard shoulder.
IT manager Martin Hepworth, who drove past while travelling home to Kidlington, said at least five fire engines were on the scene about 30 minutes ago.
The 35-year-old said: “The crash has happened right at the roundabout junction, and the place was full of fire engines.
“The emergency services were pushing everyone off the carriageway and getting them to go via the slip roads to avoid the scene.
“There was a group of firemen on the inside of the hard shoulder and a car in lane one that had part of its roof deformed.
“It looked like something had come off the carriageway, but it was difficult to see.
“There were fire engines there, as well as police and paramedics.”
South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police have been asked for information.
