MORE than 1,200 people crowded Garth Park in Bicester at the weekend to sing along to their favourite hits performed by a popular Robbie Williams tribute artist.

Paul Reason, who won the National Tribute Award 2013 for his Robbie act, delighted the audience on Friday night with well-known songs such as Let Me Entertain You and Rock DJ.

Accompanying him was tribute artist Mitch Corner who performed as X Factor contestant turned presenter Olly Murs.

Visitors were said to be queuing up in Launton Road from 6pm to get their tickets before the event started at 7.30pm.

The event was organised by Bicester Town Council and events chairwoman and deputy mayor of Bicester Jolanta Lis said the concert was a great success, with eager fans lining up to meet and have their photo taken with the tribute stars. She said it was almost as if the real Robbie Williams and Olly Murs were at the event.

She added: “The warm and sunny weather brought many residents of all ages out to this first in this year’s series of summer concerts put on by the Bicester Town Council.

“A much-needed community event with great atmosphere and more to follow.”

Bicester resident Zoe Bateman, who went along with friends and colleagues, said: “As a huge Robbie and Olly fan, this was a fantastic family evening and a great way to start the summer holidays.”
