The National Theatre’s multi award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time comes to Oxford’s New Theatre.

Part of a major UK tour, the show opens on Tuesday, July 14, and runs until Saturday, July 18.

Simon Stephens’ adaptation of Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel tells the story of 15-year-old Christopher who tries to solve the mystery of who killed Wellington the dog.

It’s seven minutes past midnight and Christopher stands beside Mrs Shears’ dead dog, which has been speared by a garden fork.

Christopher is under suspicion so he records each fact in a book he is writing as he tries to find the murderer.

He has an extraordinary brain, and is exceptional at maths yet ill-equipped to interpret everyday life.

He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and distrusts strangers.

But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time play won seven Olivier Awards in 2013 including Best New Play, Best Director, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design and won the South Bank Sky Arts Award for Theatre.

More than 200,000 people have seen the show during its run in the West End.

The book was published in 2003 and has won more than 17 literary awards.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is directed by Marianne Elliott, who co-directed the National Theatre’s record-breaking production of War Horse.

Christopher is played by Joshua Jenkins, who’s previous theatre credits include Dunsinane for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
