The team behind smash hit musical Break the Floorboards returns to Oxford Playhouse with its latest production.

Rifco return to the city with the 10th anniversary tour of The Deranged Marriage, opening on Wednesday, June 10, and running until Saturday, June, 13.

The Deranged Marriage follows Rishi and Sona, who have just met and now they’re getting married.

While their frenzied families race to ensure this is the wedding of the century, the young couple’s cold feet threaten to cause mayhem.

In the midst of the glittering jewels, spectacular saris and Bollywood dance moves, years of family conflict bubble under the surface.

As crooning aunties and drunken uncles gather, is the reason behind it all becoming lost?

This vibrant and feel-good show is written and directed by Pravesh Kumar, artistic director of the award-winning Rifco (Britain’s Got Bhangra, Break the Floorboards).

For over a decade, this British Asian theatre company has presented entertaining, diverse and accessible shows which celebrate the cultural fusions of our society.

Pravesh founded Rifco (formerly The Reduced Indian Film Company) 13 years ago. His previous experience includes working as an assistant director and writer in the heart of the Indian film industry – Bollywood. His theatrical directorial debut was in 1999 with a UK tour. Since then Rifco has produced a string of shows including, It Ain’t All Bollywood, There’s Something About Simmy, Airport 2000, Meri Christmas and Where’s My Desi Soulmate?

Pravesh’s first short film, Gods On Mountains,was nominated for the Satyajit Ray Short Film Award in 2009 Audiences can put on their wedding best for this irreverent look at British Asian wedding traditions.
