FORMER Celtic midfield player Steve Fulton is wanted by Morton. The

injury-hit Greenock club would like to sign Fulton, at present with

Bolton, on loan before Saturday's first-division match against Hamilton.

Fulton is one of a number of English-based players who are interesting

Morton manager Allan McGraw.

* ELGIN City player/manager John Teasdale, who said he had bet on his

team to win a match last season, has been fined #250 by the SFA's

General Purposes Committee yesterday for bringing the game into

disrepute.

The SFA's depute chief executive, Bill Richardson, said: ''The

committee found it totally unacceptable.''

Partick Thistle manager John Lambie was fined #150 because of his

criticism of former Firhill player David Irons. When Irons moved under

freedom of contract to St Johnstone, Lambie made his comment on the

club's phone-in supporters' line. Irons, who had replied to Lambie, was

censured as he had no previous record.

Meanwhile, the Richard Gough saga continues. The committee are again

writing to Rangers asking for further clarification of their views

following Gough's criticism of former national coach Andy Roxburgh.
