TRAFFIC is slow around the county this morning as surface water and collisions cause delays. 

It is reported to be severely congested on the A34 northbound from Hinksey Hill interchange to the junction with the M40 near Bicester and southbound from Peartree roundabout to the M4 at Chieveley.

Traffic is also heavy on Banbury Road, Woodstock Road, Botley Road, Cowley Road and Iffley Road.

There is further congestion on the A4142 between Horspath Driftway junction and Rose Hill roundabout.

The Oxford Bus Company has told passengers to expect delays of up to an hour on some services around Oxford as vehicles get caught up in the rush hour. 

Passengers on Stagecoach’s 700 services between Kidlington and Headington are facing delays of up to 30 minutes due to heavy traffic in Kidlington.

A crash and surface water on the A34 at Abingdon has led to the road being partially blocked and traffic is queuing.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: "We have been made aware that there is water on the carriageway and it is affecting north and south carriageways.

"There was also a damage-only collision which we were called to at 7.40am on the Milton interchange."

The crash scene has now been cleared.

Traffic is also reported to be heavier than normal on the A4130 at Milton.

A number of county roads were partially blocked after a series of crashes this morning.

A van and a cyclist collided on the Cuttleslowe roundabout earlier today and the Banbury Road was partially blocked as a result. 

A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a rapid response vehicle was sent to attend to the male cyclist at 6.54am, but he was not injured and did not need any hospital treatment. 

The A40 was also partially blocked after a lorry and a car crashed. The collision happened at the B4449 Eynsham roundabout, according to traffic reports. Police were called at 7.28am. 

Oxford-bound traffic was the worst affected, with delays for eastbound motorists.

There were also reports of queuing traffic after a crash in Marcham on the A415 Frilford Road, westbound between North Street/Mill Road and the A3338.
