One of two prisoners who absconded from a jail near Bicester has handed himself in.

Lewis Hoare, 27, and Kenneth Simmonds, 43, absconded from Spring Hill Open Prison in Edgcott, Bucks, at about 1pm on Sunday.

Hoare was jailed for life in May 2007 after admitting the murder of 68-year-old Brian Kitching in Southsea, Hampshire.

He handed himself in to British Transport Police at South Ruislip Station, London, at about 11pm on Monday night.

Simmonds, who is of medium build and has blue eyes, short brown hair and is clean shaven, was yesterday still at large.

He has a scar above his right eye and under his left eye and has two tattoos, one of a panther on his left forearm and one of a panther’s head on his right forearm.

People are warned not to approach him, but call 999.
