Bicester Advertiser:

This huge 85-year-old Horse Chestnut tree was cut down in Leafield this week. I wouldn’t fancy being in the shoes of tree surgeon Huw Mainwaring as he swings out and uses his legs to help topple a stump. Simon Williams got some great action pics of branches being cut off and shavings flying but this was my favourite by far, I love the contrast of the scale between the man and tree and the deep blue sky

Bicester Advertiser:

Cliff Hide was sent to the open day at the National Hunt Horse yard in Aston Rowant. This picture really caught my eye as he’d captured a wistful moment as he snapped a candid picture of a visitor with the horse Giant O Murchu

Bicester Advertiser:

Didcot Railway Centre held its final gala of the year and Mark Hemsworth took a fantastic selection of pictures from the day. I like the natural warm glow shining on to Andy Moors as he shovels coal into the firebox and the wide angle and high contrast add to the gritty feel of the image.

Bicester Advertiser:

It’s all action in this picture as Charlbury’s batsman Charlie Sinton survived this run out attempt. Photographer Denis Kennedy caught the moment perfectly during the game between Charlbury and Cowley Internationals

Bicester Advertiser:

Like father like son. Connor Evans, right, struggles to hold back a grin as he comes face to face with his dad Damien Evans during Abingdon’s World War One heritage day. A good spot from our snapper Simon Williams.
