OXFORDSHIRE’S independent schools celebrated another year of success in their GCSE results.

Magdalen College School, St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon, Headington School, Oxford High School and Cranford House in Moulsford all saw 100 per cent of their students get five or more GCSEs between A* and C – including in English and maths.

Meanwhile 100 per cent of students at d’Overbroecks in North Oxford and at Abingdon School were also able to get five more more GCSEs between A* and C, with most of their students achieving this when English and Maths are included.

Tim Hands, Master of Magdalen College School, said “These marks show that MCS consistently delivers outstanding results despite the much-talked of turbulence in the national exam system. They reflect a year of hard work and tremendous achievement in and out of the classroom.”

Felicity Lusk, headteacher of Abingdon School, said: “Almost 80 per cent of all passes were awarded an A* or an A grade and across a wide range of subjects including English and Maths, the sciences, modern languages, history and Greek.”

At Wychwood School, Oxford, 90 per cent of pupils achieved five or more GCSEs between A* and C including English and maths, while this was achieved by 81 per cent of pupils at Rye St Anthony in Headington.
