Health spenders changing again

OCCG is being restructured

OCCG is being restructured

First published in News

THE body which decides where most NHS cash is spent is undergoing a management restructure, despite having two changes at the top since April last year.

Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG) would not comment on the restructure as final changes have not been made.

It employs about 100 people at its Oxford Business Park South headquarters and is this year spending £635.7m on services like hospitals and ambulances.

A consultation began in May “to increase the effectiveness of the organisation”.

Chief executive David Smith told board members last month that the CCG’s restructure was to ensure it was fit for purpose.

A spokesman from OCCG said: “All large organisations continuously seek to make improvements to their operations. Learning from our experience gained over the past 16 months, we are making some adjustments to the way we work which will better enable us to deliver our two- and five-year commissioning plans to improve health services in Oxfordshire.

“This is simply good practice and, that being the case, we are confident that it will enable us to improve the service we deliver to the people of Oxfordshire.”
