HORSPATH captain Will Eason says they now face a key stage in their Division 2 title push.

Eason’s side are just three points behind leaders Reading as they prepare for tomorrow’s trip to Dinton.

“The next couple of games are going to be crucial as to where we are at the end of the season,” he said.

“We have Reading to play next week.

“We are delighted to win seven games in our first season back.

“To be challenging right at the top of the table is something we are trying to take in our stride.”

Jamil Faruq and Adam Krol replace the unavailable duo Pat Foster and Andy Wynd.

Seamer Matt Woods returns in place of the unavailable spinner Ian Bryan as Great & Little Tew host Reading.

Tew are buoyant after reaching Lord’s in the Davidstow Village Cup, but captain Andy Harris now wants them to climb away from trouble.

“We have got some momentum going,” he said.

“We have been doing quite well over the last few weeks and it’s about taking that forward.

“If we pick up two wins, we will be safely in mid-table.

“It’s a very strange table this year, probably because of the number of games affected by the weather.”

Craig Wood and Ross Barrett replace Jack Davies and Andy Hemming for Shipton-under-Wychwood’s at home to Finchampstead.

Captain Simon Hole has seen his side suffer badly from the wet weather this summer and he fears there is more to come.

“Having had five games abandoned, we still need to get another win to make sure we are safe,” he said.

“We went down with 200 points last time, so we need to get beyond that.”
