CHILTERN Trains do expect to run services into London’s Marylebone station for the rest of the evening and into tomorrow morning.

The London station was closed following a cable fire and travellers are facing diversions.

Passengers travelling on the line from Birmingham, which includes Banbury and Bicester, are affected.

Both they, and those on the line from Aylesbury via High Wycombe, will finish at West Ruislip.

Their tickets will then be accepted on the Central line to and from Central London.

Services heading from Marylebone to Aylesbury will start at Harrow-on-the-Hill, and Birmingham services will start at West Ruislip.

In a statement, Chiltern Railways said: “Around 2 metres of signalling cable in the tunnel into the station has burned away meaning the signalling system is not working.

“Without signals we cannot safely run trains, so are not running to or from Marylebone until new cables are installed and tested. We are not sure how long this will take, but we may not be able to run until Monday morning.”

The company has lifted ticket restrictions, details of which can be found here.

Services from Aylesbury via Amersham will finish at Harrow-on-Hill and Chiltern tickets will be accepted on the Metropolitan line to Baker Street.
