THREE people in Bicester received suspicious calls on the same day, with the caller claiming to be working for the police, a bank, or a fraud investigation company.

In each of the calls reported on Tuesday, the callers said that they had two men in custody with a diary containing details of the victim’s credit card, which had been used fraudulently.

The caller is then usually advised to phone their bank, but when the victim disconnects and dials their bank or police, the fraudster has kept the line open, so the victim is still on the phone to them.

They are then asked to either say or key in their PIN, before being told their card will be collected and a replacement delivered.

A courier is sent to collect the card from the victim, and a fake replacement is delivered at the same time.

In all three of Tuesday’s calls, the victims hung up and notified the police before any fraud could take place.

Police are urging people to be on their guard and report any suspicious phone calls to them on 101.
