THE Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley has announced new funding arrangements to support victims’ services.

Anthony Stansfeld, pictured, said he is working towards fully commissioned services by April next year.

In November, the Government announced that Police and Crime Commissioners would become responsible for most of the support services for victims of crime in their area from October 2014.

This largely replaces the old system of grant funding by the Ministry of Justice.

Applications for £600,000 worth of grants opened yesterday to support existing Thames Valley specialist services in priority areas.

This first phase of funding will include cash for restorative justice sessions, which encourage dialogue between victims and offenders.

A second phase of grant applications for £793,000 is set to be launched in the autumn.
