A pensioner went out on a visit to a garden centre and did not return home, according to police.

Thames Valley Police officers are appealing for the public’s help to trace the missing man from Milton-under-Wychood.

Basil Pratley, aged 74, was reported missing by his wife yesterday after he failed to return home after leaving the house at 11am to visit a garden centre sale in Chipping Norton.

Mr Pratley has light brown hair and is clean shaven.

He is believed to be wearing a navy fleece or a maroon sleeveless body warmer and jeans, and is also thought to be driving a silver Suzuki Grand Vitara estate.

PC James Jackson said: "We are very concerned for Basil’s welfare and are keen to trace him as soon as possible, this behaviour is out of character for him.

"I would urge him, or anyone who knows of his whereabouts, to come forward and speak to us.

"Basil’s family are very concerned about him, so I would urge him to contact them or us to let us know he is safe and well."

Anyone with information should contact Thames Valley Police on 101.
