FOR six years Dakota Cameron Knapton has been growing her hair long.

But in a few seconds it was gone after the pupil at Brookside Primsary School in Bicester decided to donate her locks to charity.

Now the six-year-old’s hair is on its way to charity The Little Princess Trust, which will use it to make wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment who have lost their own hair.

Mum Jane Cameron said Dakota watched a television programme about people donating their hair to charity and decided she was going to join in.

This week at FNKY Salon, in Market Square, Bicester, Dakota’s hair was tied into a pony-tail and was then snipped off.

Now sporting a modern bob style, Dakota, of Blenheim Drive, Bicester, said: “I’m growing it down to the floor now for next year to do it all again.”

Salon owner Kizzy Godin offered free haircuts to anyone who wanted to donate their hair to the charity and collected about 50 inches of hair.

As well as donating her hair, Dakota has raised more than £200 which will be split between The Little Princess Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.
