AN award-winning village pub has been put on the market.

The Horse and Groom in Caulcott, near Bicester, was voted the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) pub of the year for North Oxfordshire in 2010 and was described as a “real gem” by The Good Beer Guide 2011.

It has been run by French chef Jerome Prigent, who bought it with wife Anne, who died in 2009.

Peter Brunt, director of agents Colliers International, said: Jerome has now re-married.

Although he carried on working hard to establish the business, he is understandably intent on moving on to a new project.”

The Horse and Groom dates back to the early 18th century and has a thatched roof with owners’ accommodation.

Mr Brunt added: “This is a perfect pub for a couple to run as it makes good profits. It is set in beautiful countryside on a well-known cross-country route running west from Bicester.

“There is no doubt the Horse and Groom will attract attention as, in addition to its look and location, it offers the potential for further growth.”

The Grade II listed property is on the market for £325,000 freehold.

This gets worse - now the Oxford Mail advertorial includes a pub for sale! Time for the Editor to move to Thailand perhaps?

Well perhaps people living in and around Caulcott might like to know that the pub is up for sale at a time when pubs are closing at a great rate. But don't let that get in the way of you sharing yet more of your oh so important opinions with the world.
