FIREFIGHTERS removed a board from a block of flats in Mallards Way which became loose in high winds.

Neighbours called the fire service at 7.55pm on Wednesday after the 10x2-metre facade was spotted flapping about in the strong winds on the third floor of the four-storey building.

Nine firefighters were deployed and residents were warned to stay indoors while work took place.

Mat Carlile, the county council’s fire and rescue service’s area manager for strategic risk and planning, said: “The latest hazard we are having to deal with is high winds, which have partly dislodged the frontage of this block of flats in Bicester.”
