THE contractor that will build the roads and first homes on Bicester’s eco town has been named.

Developer A2 Dominion said Willmott Dixon will be its main contractor for the initial stage of the North West Bicester project.

It will build the infrastructure, which includes roads and an energy centre, as well as the first 94 homes.

A2 Dominion has planning approval for 393 zero carbon homes, a school, energy centre, eco pub, shops and a business centre at farmland off Banbury Road. A2’s NW Bicester Project Director Steve Hornblow said: “We’re delighted to announce Willmott Dixon as the main contractor for NW Bicester.

“NW Bicester is a pioneering project designed to enable people to live modern-day lifestyles with traditional values.

“The Exemplar phase will create a vibrant community where residents enjoy sustainable living and benefit from a real community environment.”

Charlie Scherer, chief operating officer for Willmott Dixon’s housing company, added: “We look forward to working with A2Dominion on the UK’s first eco town, creating a truly flagship development for Bicester.”
