FIREFIGHTERS have been called out to about 30 flood incidents – including flooded houses – since 4am this morning.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service this morning said it has been called out to areas including Sutton Courtenay, the Hendreds, Watlington, and Postcombe in the east of the county.

Calls made have been for issues such as flooded homes and vehicles getting stuck in flood water.

The floods were mainly caused by run-off from hills, rather than river flooding, officials say.

Cars were rescued overnight from the B4009 at Aston Rowant, the B4106 at East Hagbourne and Knightsbridge Lane near Pyrton, near Watlington.

Two schools in West Hanney have been forced to close due to fresh floods.

St James Primary School and Hanney Pre-School are shut.

The Hanneys is experiencing flooding this morning, with reports of water being three feet deep.

Train services were disrupted for people travelling in the west of the county by flooding this morning.

Services were suspended at around 7.30am on First Great Western trains between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill due to flooding at Moreton In Marsh.

They have since resumed.

The news comes as two more flood warnings were issued for Oxfordshire overnight - for the River Thame at Dorchester and the Thames in West Oxfordshire at and around Buscot Wick.

Flood warnings remain in place for the Botley Road and Abingdon Road areas of Oxford, as well as two areas of the south-east of the county.

The weather today is expected to be mostly dry, with heavy rain coming tonight and more bad weather to follow over the weekend.

This morning, the A417 is closed both ways due to flooding between the B4001 New Road and Warmans Close.
