TREASURES from Oxfordshire’s ancient history go on show from tomorrow at a county museum.

The exhibition, entitled Unearthed, at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock, features more than 20 items, including this Anglo Saxon saucer brooch from 500 to 600 AD.

Items from swords to a Roman tombstone are featured at the museum in Park Street.

Project officer Anna Griffiths said the brooch was discovered during excavations for the Shrivenham bypass in the 1980s.

She added: “The age of them is impressive but, for me, it is the way they tell us about the people who lived there.

“You think about how skilled they were and how they used these objects to show their personality and status.”

The exhibition runs until April 27 and is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and from 2-5pm on Sunday.
