Prosecutors in the Thames Valley have been criticised for “poor legal decisions, weak case progression and a low rate of successful outcomes”.

A report published by Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate found evidence of CPS Thames Valley prosecutors in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire trying to mistakenly continue cases and struggling to process some others.

The inspection concluded that greater attention must be paid to individual performance management.

Chief crown prosecutor for CPS Thames and Chiltern, Adrian Foster, said the organisation was “determined to improve our performance”.
