PUPILS and staff from Cooper School, Bicester, were again out in force spreading festive cheer.

For the fourth year running, students delivered Christmas hampers to senior citizens across the town.

A total of 25 hampers were filled with goodies thanks to donations from students, staff and parents, and supermarket Tesco.

Cooper’s business manager Steve Cook said: “It is always a very enjoyable experience delivering the hampers with some of our students and this year we have been able to put together 25.

“I would like to thank Tesco in Bicester who helped our cause by donating a trolley full of goods for our hampers.

“It was a totally unexpected gesture on their part and was very gratefully received. While it is enjoyable to take the hampers out it is sometimes heartbreaking to hear of some elderly people who will be at home alone and I am pleased we can help in a small way.”

Student Gemma Pugh, 17, said: “I’ve taken hampers out for the last three years and really enjoy meeting the senior citizens and the look on their faces when we arrive.”
