BANBURY MAGISTRATES

Shayne Hopkins, 22, of Chandler Close, Bampton, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence in Corn Street, Witney, on November 16. Also admitted failing to surrender to magistrates in Banbury on December 2. Community order made with 28-day curfew requirement and told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Liam Bunce, 23, of no fixed address, admitted aggravated vehicle taking in Bicester on December 4. Given a nine-week prison sentence because he is a prolific offender and the offence was committed while he was subject to a community order. Also admitted making off without paying £60.67 for unleaded petrol on November 30 in Bicester. Given a 12-month driving ban.

Michael Morrell, 46, of Lyne Road, Kidlington, admitted assault by beating in Nuffield Close, Bicester, on October 2. Community order made with supervision requirement and 200 hours of unpaid work. Restraining order made banning contact with victim or going to Nuffield Close. Told to pay £440 compensation and a £60 victims’ surcharge.

Collins Okakwu, 31, Weyland Road, Headington, admitted driving without a licence in Lenthall Road, Oxford, on June 1. Fined £200 and given three points on licence. Told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

John Chapman, 28, Park Terrace, East Challow, Wantage, admitted driving without insurance and without a licence. Given a six-month driving ban and fined £300. Also told to pay a £30 victims’ surcharge and £65 costs.

Gavin Buckle, 25, of West Street, Banbury, stole meat worth £45.60 from Tesco Express in Middleton Road, Banbury, on November 24. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. One other offence admitted.

Caroline Couchman, 55, of Old School Lane, East Challow, Wantage, admitted stealing a cuddly toy, ribbon and notebooks worth £28.45 from Pink Squirrel in Castle Quay, Banbury, on December 7. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £45 costs.
