Warm welcome for new parish priest

CHURCHGOERS in Bicester have officially welcomed their new parish priest Father John Batthula.
Father John took over at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in August, but his formal induction as parish priest only took place on Friday.
Eighteen visiting priests and deacons, as well as 400 parishioners watched on as he was inducted by Canon Mervyn Tower, the Dean of Banbury.
Father John, right, moved to Bicester from a church in Erdington, Birmingham, where he had been parish priest since 2006, He said he looked forward to working in the town and with St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
