THIS is the four-year-old boy who died after being struck by a falling mirror at the Bicester Village shopping centre.

Austen Harrison, four, of Crawley, West Sussex, was killed on June 8, after a fitting fell on him inside the Hugo Boss fashion outlet.

An inquest into Austen’s death is set to be opened by Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court tomorrow.

The photograph was released today, and pictures a joyous Austen on the deck of a ship with chocolate smeared around his smiling mouth.

His family has spoken of their sorrow.

Mr and Mrs Harrison, whose full names were not given, said in a statement: “Austen was a bright and vibrant boy who injected life into everything he touched.

“His energy and creativity will be missed every day by all who met him and by those who did not have the privilege to meet him.”

A charity is to be set up in his name to improve the lives of other children.

The family is represented by Jocelyn Cockburn, partner at London law firm Hodge Jones and Allen.

An investigation into Austen’s death is being carried out by Thames Valley Police.

An off-duty doctor tended to Austen after the incident at about 8.30pm on the previous Tuesday evening.

Paramedics arrived minutes later.

The four-year-old’s injuries were initially not thought to be life threatening.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, but died in the early hours of Saturday.

Fashion giant Hugo Boss closed its store for several days while a healthy and safety investigation was carried out.

It also cancelled an event in London last Monday out of respect for the boy’s family.
