Patients urged to reclaim cost of care
7:00am Wednesday 13th March 2013 in News
HEALTH bosses have urged county people with complex needs to consider applying for NHS funding.
The Department of Health last year said people can claim to be reimbursed for care costs they paid for out of their own pocket.
Residents have until March 31 to apply for care received between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2012, NHS Oxfordshire said.
These “continuing care” costs can be for a person’s own payments or costs on behalf of a relative, alive or dead.
Continuing care is for adults with complex needs from disability, accident or illness.
An NHS spokesman said: “To be eligible for NHS continuing healthcare funding, a person’s main or primary care need must relate to health, for example a complex medical condition requiring highly-specialised nursing support.
“This care could have been provided in a variety of different settings including care homes or an individual’s home.”
