THE Oxford Mail has been made aware of a flier headed Justice for the Wyatt Brothers appealing for people to sign a Government e-petition. It carries the Oxford Mail logo. This is an unauthorised use of the Oxford Mail logo and the newspaper is not involved nor endorses the campaign. 

DUE to a technical problem, comments could not be posted on the story about Mick Wyatt being defiant over being jailed for the waste material at Waterstock Golf Club.

You can post comments on that matter below. However, if any comments allege fraud or defame named council officers, those comments will be removed, the poster banned and comments closed permanently.

While we welcome debate on the issue and the outcome of the jailing of the brothers, this comments section is not to be used for rehearse the arguments ad nauseum that the courts have already heard.

What is the "technical" problem preventing them from being posted under the story?

There are no comments below this story, funny no other news story has a problem regarding it's comments! You only have to read the above Oxford Mail statement to find your answer. The Wyatt brothers have had a rough deal. I don't blame them wanting to carry on their fight with Oxford C.Council, they deserve justice. With or without this papers help we will not give in and sooner or later the truth will out!

No, we have not been forced in any way to make that statement. It is reinforcing our policy that we will not host potentially defamatory comments because there is a clear danger that policy will be ignored. We are happy for people to debate and give their opinions but if it breaches our policies we will shut this down, the same with any other thread. It is now down to posters now to either exercise their freedom of speech responsibly or not.

What has not been ruled on within the High court is whether or not both Plan C and Plan B the enforcement plans are accurate!! Now call me a stickler for detail but why exactly is that? given that two peolpe have gone to prison on the strength of calculations based on those plans.

Why is it that after the Council monitoring Officers had visited the site on at least 8 occations they could only confirm that none of "the waste" could be found ? given that there is supposed to be 12,000+ lorry loads of "the waste" on the site at Waterstock according to Council figures does this not suggest that it simply does not exsist and that the plans are wildly inaccurate??

Why is it that the Chief Executive of the County Council is saying that Council Officers never produced the original enforcement plan plan C and yet the legal services department of the County Councils says they did? If his is not believed please visit the "justice for the wyatt brothers" facebook site and see the evidence of this.

If i said The former head of planning development enviroment and economy has said that he could not find any of "the waste" on the site where he had asked the Wyatt's to look for it and could back that up with a solid evidence would you consider that to be potentially defamatory or just factual.?
What I would like to know is this: If any of the people wishing to contribute to this story can back up what they are saying by hard evidence will the Oxford mail allow it to be aired? This could of course be sent to you personally before it is presented onto this forum? This is so that verybody knows exactly where they stand. Nobody wants people to print lies but if people can back up what they are saying with evidence and facts surely thats what free speech is all about?

Please keep supporting my husband Ron and his brother in fight for justice they are not guilty of any civil or criminal offence. We have been fighting the establishment for so long, with all your help the right people will listen and the truth will come out with the evidence we have. jacqui wyatt

Surely a miscarriage of justice backed up by solid facts should not in any way be false, abusive or malicious.

If OCC have THEIR facts correct why not call for an INDEPENDENT enquiry? Surely this is how a democratic system works.

The Wyatt brothers are victims in this sad case. Two men who have stuck by their principles, fighting the Council machine through the courts over a long period of time have paid a high price namely spending time at Her Majesty's Pleasure in Pentonville Prison. When you are trying to explain to the courts that the plans in front of the judges are inaccurate and wrong, yet those pleas are falling on deaf ears, you are left wondering where the family can turn to. The Council Machine is not being open and transparent as per their policy. As an outsider it all seems baffling that 2 honest hard working family men were prepared to go to prison over some waste soil. The complete story is complex to the outsider but when you try and get information out of the council via the freedom of information act, your not given the information you request. That seems odd to me. When is someone brave enough ready to stand up in the Council and resolve this sorry situation. Here's hoping some common sense may prevail.

I have just read the article in the Oxford Times which suggests that the Wyatt's were sentenced for failing to remove "the waste "buried" at Waterstock Golf Club Near Wheatley" What a ridiculous suggestion firstly how and when are the Wyatt's supposed to have buried 12,000 lorry loads of "the waste" This is the approximate figure suggested by the County Council, was it during the night? Given that the ground levels now, are In places over 8 meters lower than the original ground levels how is this possible? Three County Council Monitoring Officers called for by the High Court to monitor the site told the Wyatts where they wanted them to look for "the Waste over a period of 7-8 months consisting of 7or 8 accompanied site visits the Wyatts dug in the area's where they were asked to and the monitoring Officers confirmed that none of "the waste" exsited or could be found this is a fact. These site visits, recordings of conversations between the Wyatts and the Officers can be heard on the "justice for the Wyatt brothers" facebook and utube sites this is clear evidence that "the waste" simply does not exsist. It is shambolic that the Oxfordshire public should be continuing to pay for this futile witch hunt and is a complete waste of tax payers money. when is someone in real power going to put a stop to this. Its about time central govenment stepped in and held those accountable for this whole sorry mess.

I have today been denied seeing the reports compiled by the monitoring officers which were withdrawn at the council meeting 7th March 2011.

The very report which confirmed that the land was more or less returned to its previous state and these officers couldn't find any 'waste'.

Why are the Oxford Mail or the nationals not holding the County Council to account is it the case that they simply do not have the financial resourses to challenge or cover what is quite obviously a cover up!! Is it that we are all in fact living in police state and not a democracy! its so reminiscent of the film 1984 Its all rather depressing !!!

Of course "the Wyatts continue to spend their energy criticising the actions of the council" because they have failed to support and help them resolve this matter which has led to a complete injustice towards Ron and Mick Wyatt being sent to prison. Lets put this into perspective, these are two honest, hard working, family gentlemen who have created a beautiful golf course for local people to enjoy, provided jobs and growth in the economy. They are not criminals, yet they have been treated as such, resulting in heartache for them and their families. I just hope that OCC stop wasting our tax payers money on this case and allow Ron and Mick to live the rest of their lives in peace.

It's all a little bit like 'The Merchant of Venice' with the Council wanting a load of waste rather than a pound of flesh! It's nevertheless a tragedy with the brothers being sent to jail for something that should have been resolved in another way. We have a situation where the waste is actually part of the golf course and has certainly not been detrimental to the landscape, in fact quite the opposite.
We also have a situation where a Council has given planning approval to a group of buildings close to Port Meadow which most people agree is a blot on the landscape and many want part of the buildings to be removed. What is more catastrophic ? The golf course or the buildings? I know what
I think and I believe the Council should now end its persecution of these two men and suspend the matter sine die.
Better still, conclude and not waste any more taxpayer's money on this project and spend their time and money on more worthy projects - filling pot holes on County and city roads would be a fine start!

MARTIN YOUNG. The persecution of this pensioner is exactly the same as that of the Wyatt brothers, I support the Wyatts in their fight, maybe you could support Martin through your comments on his stories as well. Thanks.
