The Government should reconsider rules on gift vouchers after customers were left out of pocket by the collapse of HMV, Banbury MP Sir Tony Baldry has said.

The Conservative said the firm’s refusal to honour vouchers after it called in administrators is “more than unfair”.

In a letter to Government minister Jo Swinson, Sir Tony said customers are “at the back of the queue”

behind creditors like banks, and voucher cash should go in a separate account.
