PARENTS of schoolchildren abused by their teacher on an almost daily basis said there was “no justice” after learning he could be released in two years.

The 52-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted 19 counts of sexual assaults on children under 13, one count of possessing indecent photographs of children, 10 counts of taking indecent pictures of children and one count of voyeurism.

He asked for seven further sexual assaults on children under 13 to be taken into consideration. The incidents took place between 2004 and 2010 at a South Oxfordshire primary school he joined in the mid 1990s.

They involved 20 children he taught between the ages of seven and 10.

He appeared for sentencing at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Judge Gordon Risius gave him four years in prison for the sexual assaults, two years for each of the indecent images counts and four months for the voyeurism.

The sentences will run concurrently.

The man, who is separated and has adult children, was given a five-year prison sentence in 2010 after admitting 23 counts of sexual assault on children under 13 and possessing 18 indecent images of children.

Following the sentencing, one parent said: “It is not long enough. He did more this time and got the same amount of time as last time.”

Another parent said: “Where is the justice? I do not understand it.”

Judge Risius said what the teacher had done was “unforgivable” and described him as a “dangerous” risk to the public.

He said he had to take into account that the man had been in continuous custody for very similar offences since his arrest in 2010 and that Parliament recently changed the law on extending sentences of imprisonment.

The judge added four years was the top end of the sentencing bracket, with no discount for pleading guilty.

The teacher will remain on licence until January 2020 and will remain subject indefinitely to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
