THIS car is another victim of the floods that hit Oxfordshire, but it is hoped the worst is over as dry weather is forecast.

The Environment Agency’s warning for the River Thames from Days Lock down to South Stoke, including Dorchester-on-Thames and Overy, Shillingford, Benson, Wallingford, North Stoke and Moulsford was lifted yesterday.

But as the Oxford Mail went to press last night, a similar warning, which means flooding is expected, was still in place for the River Thames and tributaries at Sandford and Radley near Abingdon. It is now the only one in Oxfordshire.

Architect Ralph Saull, 24, from Abingdon, was cycling to work on Friday morning when he snapped this abandoned car surrounded by flood water in Sandford Lane, Kennington.

The 24-year-old architect said: “I find it quite incredible that he didn’t look at the stretch of water ahead of him and think ‘maybe not’.”

The flood barriers by Hinksey Lake, South Oxford, are expected to stay until Monday. The Met Office is forecasting a dry weekend in Oxfordshire.
