Suspected leak keeps leisure centre training pool shut

The training pool at Bicester Leisure Centre is expected to remain closed until mid-January as investigations continue into a suspected pipe leak.

A Cherwell District Council spokesman said test results were awaited and the pool would “definitely” be closed for several more weeks.

The training pool at the Queens Avenue centre closed on December 6.

Swimming classes have been moved to either the shallow end of the main pool or transferred to Banbury’s Spiceball Leisure Centre.

Woah woah woah woah, my daughter swam in that pool and had an ear infection afterwards. Was terribly ill for 3 weeks. What pipe was leaking and for how long for? Are they connected?

Wouldn't have happened in Oxford - they just close-down old pools, and build half-olympic sized new ones!

Now that is an idea Myron. If Cherwell shut it down and pooled (pooled, geddit') their money with Oxford we could have an Olympic size swimming pool on The Leys.
