OXFORDSHIRE band Outcry are setting their sights on winning The Vodafone Live Music Awards next week.
Band members Paul Roberts, 24; Joe O' Neill, 22, and Jose Fernandez, 24, all from Bicester, together with Oxford lad David McMahon, 21, will visit the Carling Academy in Brixton, London, on Thursday.
Outcry have been nominated for the Live and Unsigned award at the Vodafone Live Music Awards, which celebrates a year in live music and will be hosted by Steve Jones and Juliette Lewis. The ceremony is set to be a star-studded event with performances confirmed so far from The Ting Tings and Estelle and other surprises on the night.
The event will be held in front of a specially invited audience of thousands of celebrities and music industry professionals and lucky competition winners. The winning act will be announced on the night and will be invited on stage to collect their trophy from guest presenters from the world of music and entertainment.
Future music are partnering the award for the UKs best Unsigned Act.
Future music managing Director Chris Grayston said: "We are always interested in discovering and exposing unsigned talent in the UK, we have such a strength and depth of musical ability in this country which we should acknowledge and celebrate."
The unsigned winning act on the night will be thrust into the media spotlight through television, radio and the press.
They will be featured on T4's overall coverage of the event, broadcasted on Sunday.
Vodafone sponsorship manager for the UK, Belinda Stevenson, said: "We are very excited to be working with Live and Unsigned at the Vodafone Live Music Awards 2008. They are a great fit for our Unsigned Act award and we look forward to discovering some big talent together."
Outcry will no doubt have their fan base galvanised to attend and support them.
