UK sales of the Cowley-built Mini are back on track, latest figures have revealed.
Statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show 2,335 cars were sold in April, a rise of 10 per cent on the same month last year.
It follows a year on year drop of nine per cent in March.
But total sales for the year to date are still lower than at the same time in 2011.
So far this year 13,887 cars have been sold compared to 14,441 in the first four months of last year.
Nationally, new car registrations rose 3.3 per cent in April to 142,322 units as private sales continued to recover.
SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: “A strong April new car market has raised confidence across the UK motor industry.
“We are seeing a steady increase in consumer confidence with growth in private demand, boosted by the arrival of a raft of new products.”
